PzKpfw IV Ausf.F1 - a modification of the PzKpfw IV medium tank. The latest modification in the series of early Pz.IV tanks, armed with a short-barreled KwK 37 L / 24 caliber 75 mm gun. Tanks of the F series were produced both at the enterprises of the Krupp company and at the enterprises of the Vomag company. A total of 462 Pz tanks were produced from April 1941 to March 1942. Kpfw.IV Ausf.F1.

PzKpfw IV tanks of the Ausf.F modification, unlike machines of the A, D and E modifications, had a thickness of integral frontal armor of the hull and turret of 50 mm, sides - 30 mm; overhead armor screens were absent. The armor of the tower had a thickness of 50 mm in the frontal part, 30 mm on the sides and stern, the thickness of the gun mask was also 50 mm.

The mass of the tank increased to 22.3 t. As a result, the specific load on the ground exceeded the normal limit, it was necessary to use a track with a width of 400 mm instead of tracks with a track width of 380 mm and carry out appropriate modifications to the driving wheels and idlers.

The MG 34 machine gun was placed in a ball mount. Additional ventilation holes appeared on the cover of the power compartment, as well as on hatches providing access to the gearbox and brake drums in the front part of the body. The side tower door consisted of two parts.

On the door there was an observation slot with armored glass and a gunner's hatch, which was used for ventilation of the tower, was closed with a lid. On the left, in the stern, there was an armored casing for a smoke launcher. The barrel of the gun, the front shields and the front towing hook underwent minor changes. The design of the tower's frontal armor sheet has changed slightly, and rain protection has appeared over the tower's door. Armoring of the gun mask was increased to 50-mm. The air inlets of the engine began to be equipped with standard valves.

With the entry into service of the Pz.IV, armed with a long-barreled cannon, vehicles with KwK 37 L / 24 caliber 75-mm weapons received the designation Ausf.F1, and the new tanks began to be designated Ausf.F2.
