Boeing B-52 "Stratofortress" (English: Boeing B-52 Stratofortress "Stratospheric fortress") - an American strategic bomber of the Boeing company, which has been in service with the US Air Force since 1955.

Airplane replaced the B-36 bomber. At subsonic speeds at altitudes of up to 15 kilometers, it is capable of carrying various types of weapons, including nuclear weapons. The main task for which the B-52 was developed was to deliver two high-power thermonuclear bombs to any point in the USSR.

One of the B-52 modifications – the B-52G – is the absolute record holder in terms of range among combat aircraft. It is also one of the few military aircraft in continuous service for over half a century. Although developed in the late 1940s and early 1950s, the B-52 is still the primary long-range bomber of the US Air Force (along with the B-1b Lancer) and will remain so until at least 2030 year It is planned to spend 11.9 billion dollars on the modernization of aircraft.
