The Boeing B-47 Stratojet is an American medium-range strategic bomber with a central wing, equipped with six jet engines, capable of reaching the speed of sound. Its main task was to penetrate the airspace of the USSR and drop nuclear bombs on the objects located there. The flight of the prototype took place in December 1947, and commissioning began in the summer of 1951. In the 1950s, the B-47 was the main strategic strike force of the USAF in a hypothetical conflict with the Soviet Union. During serial production, 2,040 copies of all versions of the aircraft were produced, the largest of which was the E version. The B-47 Stratojet was finally withdrawn from service in 1966.
