Volkswagen Transporter (other names: VW T1, VW Bus or VW Samba) is a German passenger car-van that was first presented to the public in 1949. Its production began a year later (1950) and continues to this day. It took place or is still taking place in several cities around the world, for example, in Emden or Hannover in Germany or in Poznań. The Transporter model was developed and put into production by the Volkswagen AG concern in order to expand the commercial offer and enter the van segment. The basis of the car was the reinforced chassis and platform of the Beetle model. In addition, many pieces of equipment were taken from this model. The first generations of the car were distinguished by a rather original style, simple design and low costs of acquisition and operation. Initially, engines with a volume of 1.1 to 1.6 liters and a power of 25-47 hp were used as a drive. Especially the first generation of the car, produced in 1950-1967, gained enormous popularity and the affectionate nickname "Cucumber". Significant changes have taken place in the Transporter model, especially since the fourth generation, when the design, power units and the location of the engine have changed significantly (it was moved from the front of the car to the rear). The last generation was introduced in 2015.
