The BTR-152 wheeled armored personnel carrier was developed shortly after the end of the Great Patriotic War in 1946-1947 at the ZIS factories. The machine entered service with the Soviet Army in 1950. Serial production of the car took place in 1950-1962, and the total production of the car is estimated at approximately 12,400 units of all modifications. The car was equipped with a six-cylinder carburetor engine with a capacity of 110 hp. and accommodated up to 17 paratroopers. The crew consisted of two people: the commander and the driver-mechanic. The wheeled BTR-152 was distinguished by a very good form of armor, which contributed to the ricochet of small-caliber weapons, as well as a good location of landing hatches, which were located in the rear of the machine. Another advantage was the installation of a 10RT-12 radio station (on some cars). A significant drawback was the open landing compartment, which actually made it impossible for the BTR-152 vehicles to operate under the conditions of mass destruction weapons, as well as the completely open position of the soldier who controlled the main armament of the tank. vehicle: 7.62 mm machine gun. Despite these shortcomings, the BTR-152 was the main vehicle of Soviet mechanized divisions in the 1950s and 1960s. It was also used during the interventions in Hungary in 1956 and in Czechoslovakia during the suppression of the Prague Spring in 1968. BTR-152 was also widely exported to Warsaw Pact countries (including Poland) and third world countries.
