K9 Moukari is a modern Korean-made Finnish self-propelled howitzer. The first machines of this type entered service with the Finnish army in 2017. The total length of the car is 12 meters with a width of 3.4 meters. The drive is provided by one MTU MT-881 Ka-500 engine with a maximum power of up to 1000 km. The maximum speed on the road is 67 km/h. Armament consists of one 155-mm howitzer and one 12.7-mm machine gun. The Armed Forces of Finland became interested in purchasing new self-propelled howitzers in 2014-2015, and already in 2016, negotiations were started on the acquisition of used South Korean K9 Thunder howitzers. At the beginning of 2017, a contract was signed, as a result of which the Finnish side will purchase 48 cars of this type, and in the same year the first cars will be included in the lineup! It is assumed that the K9 Moukari self-propelled howitzers will replace the SpH 74 machines in service, which are essentially modernized 2S1 Goździk machines. It is worth noting that the K9 Moukari did not undergo major upgrades before entering service with the Finnish Armed Forces, but they are likely to be implemented over time and will consist of improving the K9 Moukari's mobility in deep snow and increasing its range.
