Pantsyr-S1 (Pantsyr S-1, NATO designation: SA-22 Greyhound) is a modern self-propelled air defense system mounted on a tracked or wheeled chassis. The first prototypes were built in 1994, but serial production began only in 2008. It is assumed that about 200 sets of the system have been created so far, and the unit price of this system (in the export version) is in the region of 13.15-14.7 million US dollars according to the 2011 Price data. PMZ factories in Ulyanovsk are responsible for the production of the set. The Pantsir-S1 complex is a missile and artillery complex consisting of two 30-mm double-barreled 2A83 automatic guns and 12 anti-aircraft missile systems 57E6 or 57E6E. The set is designed to combat air targets in the form of airplanes, helicopters or operational-tactical missiles at short and medium distances. It is assumed that "Pantsir-S1" is a rather promising development of the 2K22 "Tunguska" system. The kit is usually mounted on a wheeled chassis, and the wheeled transporter is used by suitably adapted KAMAZ-6560, BAZ-6909 or MAN SX45 trucks. In the case of a tracked chassis, the ГМ-352М1Е machine is used. The kit was used by government forces in Syria during the Syrian civil war since March 2011, as well as during operations in Donbas (since April 2014).
