A-26B-15 Invader The Douglas A-26 Invader was the best American twin-engine bomber of World War II. He had high flight data and carried powerful weapons. It was produced in 1942-1945. 1,355 solid-nose A-26Bs (6-8 12.7mm Browning MG) and 1,091 glazed-nose A-26Cs were produced. A-26 bombers were in active service in Western Europe, Italy and the Pacific Ocean in 1944-1945. They were used until the last day of the Second World War to attack enemy lines, railways and highways.
