Assembled model 1/48 aircraft Hawker Hurricane Mk. I Tropical Airfix A05129 127 Parts in a set Rugged and reliable, the Hawker Hurricane was perhaps the most important fighter available to the RAF at the start of World War II. Easier to build and easier to fly than the more glamorous Spitfire, the Hurricane was available in far greater numbers than any other fighter during the Battle of Britain, and proved decisive in securing the ultimate victory for RAF pilots. During the Royal Air Force's first operations in the Mediterranean and North Africa, a small number of Hurricane Mk.I fighters were pitted against vastly outnumbered Regia Aeronautica aircraft. They proved more than worthy of anything the Italian Air Force could offer them, but the arrival of the battle-hardened Luftwaffe fighters in 1941 changed their fortunes. Many of the Hurricanes were 'tropical' and arrived on TVD with a chin-mounted Vokes carburettor dust filter which significantly changed the profile of the Hawker fighter. What's inside
