Mustang R-51A
The legendary P-51 Mustang was one of the best fighters of the Second World War. This aircraft was developed by the North American Corporation for the British Air Force. The NA-73X prototype made its first flight on October 26, 1940. In Great Britain, the aircraft was named Mustang. The US Air Force also took an interest in the new fighter and designated it the P-51. The last modification with an Allison engine - P-51A - was built in 1942. The plane had a high speed and a long range, but its rate of climb and working ceiling were insufficient. P-51A were in service in India and China in mid-1943. The R-51B modification was built in May 1943. It was distinguished by the installation of a powerful and high-altitude Packard Merlin engine. Airplane Mustang
with this engine became one of the fastest fighters in the world. He had a huge
range, was well armed and armored. The Mustangs produced at the Dallas plant meant the P-51C. Aircraft transferred by the British Air Force on lend-lease were designated Mustang Mk.III. A bubble canopy called "Malcolm Hood" was installed on them. This made it possible to improve the view from the cockpit. DOWNLOAD INSTRUCTIONS
