OV-10A Bronco The OV-10A Bronco was designed as a light multi-role attack aircraft. Its tasks consisted in striking ground targets, providing direct air support to its troops and intelligence. It could also serve as an advanced surveillance and guidance aircraft. The aircraft was actively used in Vietnam by the US Navy, Air Force and Marines. The main mission of the OV-10A Bronco was to provide cover for units of the US Army, Marine Corps and Special Forces, as well as to patrol areas where Vietnamese forces were operating. Often, these aircraft performed tasks that previously relied on helicopters. Although less maneuverable than helicopters, these attack aircraft had a greater payload capacity and were less vulnerable to small arms fire.
