The Derfflinger-type battlecruiser is the first battlecruiser of the Imperial German Navy, the second being the Lutzow. The Derfflinger and the Lutzow entered service in 1914 and 1916 respectively and saw action at the Battle of Jutland in 1916, where the Lutzow was sunk and the Derfflinger was wrecked; it was sunk in 1919 after the end of the First World War.
