The Westland Lysander is a British military liaison and cooperation aircraft with a high-wing metal structure with a classic World War II tail. Design work under the leadership of William Peter began in 1934, two years later a prototype was launched, and in 1937 mass production began. The Lysander was produced from 1937 to 1942 in five main modifications: Mk.I, Mk.II, Mk.III, Mk.IIIA and TT Mk.IIIA. All versions were powered by Bristol Mercury or Bristol Perseus engines. A total of 1,425 cars of all modifications were built. During the French campaign of 1940, they served on the front lines, but suffered considerable losses, which led to their switching to other tasks: rescuing the crews of downed bombers, maintaining communication with the underground in occupied Europe, and intelligence. This type of aircraft was also used by the Polish 309th Army Cooperation Division. Technical data (Mk.III version): length: 9.29 m, wingspan: 15.24 m, height: 4.42 m, maximum speed: 341 km/h, rate of climb: 6.4 m/s, maximum range: 966 km, ceiling maximum 6500 m, Armament: stationary - 4 machine guns cal. 7.7 mm, suspended - up to 260 kg of bombs.
