M4 Sherman is an American medium tank from the Other Light War. The first and last manifestations were generated in 1941, and serial production took place in the period 1942-1945. In total, approximately 49,000 copies of this tank of all versions were built, making it one of the most destroyed tanks of the Other Light War and the most important tank in the armed forces of the Allies. d hour of this conflict. The M4 Sherman is equipped with a single-engine version of the M4A1 Continental R 975 C4 with a power of 400 hp. The vehicle was equipped - depending on the version - with one 75-mm M3 or 76-mm M1 or 105-mm M4 howitzer and two 7.62-mm Browning1919A machine guns. The M4 Sherman was developed as an attacker of the M2 and M3 tanks, although it contained many of the remaining components. First of all, we only slightly changed the chassis of the M3 Lee. When designing the M4 Sherman, the emphasis was placed on the traditional role of an anti-tank vehicle, rather than on fighting enemy tanks - such was the role of the American military tanks. Only a few possible items were transferred by truck to Pz.Kpfw III and Pz.Kpfw IV. The serial production of the new tank and the lowest possible costs for production also played a major role. As a result, a new tank with good armor for 1942 and early 1943, medium armor, but with a weak front plate, and also with poor maneuverability and - especially in the first versions - even susceptible to fire as a result of hitting the engine vіdsіk. At the same time, however, a tank has been created that will be effectively serial and have significant modernization potential. During the serial production of the M4 Sherman, many previous versions were created. Chronologically, the M4A1 version was the first, since the cast armor was already small. The second one - M4A2 - has welded armor and a new General Motors 6460 engine with a tightness of 375-410 hp, but is much less flammable. A version of the M4A3 also appeared, equipped with a 105-mm howitzer and equipped with a Ford GAA engine with a capacity of 450 horsepower. Based on the M4A3 version, two versions were created: the M4A3E2 Jumbo with reinforced armor and the M4A3E8 with HVSS and a 76-mm gun. The same version of the development also became the T34 Calliope with the installation of missiles without targeting them. The M4 Sherman also saw service in great numbers of Britain and the Red Army. The first one developed on its basis a version of the Firefly with a miraculous 17-pound anti-tank gun. During the Second World War, M4 Sherman tanks fought in early Africa (1942-1943), Italy (1943-1945), during the battles of Normandy, France and Western Germany (1944- 1945), as well as in the Pacific Ocean or in service. Chervona Army on the Skhidny Front. After the Second World War, the M4 Sherman saw service in many countries, including Argentina, Belgium, India, Israel, Japan, Pakistan and Turkey. He also took part in many conflicts after 1945, including the India-Pakistan War of 1965 and the Sixth War of 1967.
