SH -60 is a naval modification of the UH-60 army helicopter for use on board warships, developed in accordance with the competitive program of the US Navy LAMPS Mk.3 (Light Airborne Multipurpose System — a light multipurpose aviation system). The first flight of the helicopter took place in 1979 and was adopted by the US Navy in 1984.
