A-7A Corsair II (US Navy Carrier-Based Attacker) Hasegawa 00238 1:72 Scale Plastic Model Kit

< br>

LTV The A-7 Corsair II was a subsonic, light, deck-based attack aircraft. It was introduced to replace the A-4 Skyhawk, entered service during the Vietnam War. The Corsair was adopted by the US Air Force as well as the National Guard, where it replaced the A-1 Skyraider, F-100 Super Saber and F-105 Thunderchief. In the 1970s, the aircraft was delivered to Greece, in the late 80s to Portugal and Thailand. The frame of the A-7 was developed on the basis of the successful supersonic F-8 Crusader. A-7A was the first serial version. Early USN Corsair IIs were armed with two 20mm Colt Mk 12 guns with an ammunition capacity of 250 rounds per barrel. The theoretical maximum load is 6,804 kg, but is limited by the maximum take-off weight, due to which full combat load can be achieved with a significant reduction in fuel. 19 aircraft were built.
