Jaguar is the result of a joint Anglo-French venture created in 1965 to create an advanced trainer and attack aircraft. The Royal Air Force originally planned to use it only for training purposes, but in later years it was also intended for assault missions. In the early 1960s, the French Air Force was looking for a new aircraft to replace the T-33 and Fouga Magister trainers, as well as the Mystere IV attack aircraft. In April 1964, the design of a new structure, initially named ECAT, began. The Br121 project of the Breguet company went to the next stage. It was then that the Royal Air Force became interested in the program, as they needed a training aircraft with similar characteristics. On May 17, 1965, a joint production agreement was signed between France (Breguet) and Great Britain (British Aerospace). The resulting joint venture was named SEPECAT. The first prototype took off from the ground on September 8, 1968. Problems with cooperation caused delays, which caused a delay in commissioning. The first units were introduced in 1972. According to the program, the training aircraft was converted into an attack aircraft. The English and French versions differ in several secondary elements, mainly secondary elements of the production equipment of that country. 573 cars were built. 403 for England/France, 54 for Oman/Ecuador/Nigeria, 116 for India (70 produced under license). The Jaguar is armed with two fixed 30 mm single-barreled ADEN guns on the bottom of the hull. On four underwing pylons, one under the fuselage, it can carry: bomb cartridges ("Bilouga", BL.755); classic bombs (EU3, 454 kg); time bombs; bombs for destroying runways (Durandal, BAP.100); laser-guided bombs (GBU-10A, BGL.400); air/ground missiles; guided anti-ship complex Sea Eagle; anti-radar ARMAT or SIGNAL (air/ground AS-30L); unguided air/ground missiles; An52 nuclear bombs. In addition to self-defense, the Jaguar can be armed with AIM-9 Sidewinder or Matra R.550 Magic air-to-air missiles or jamming units on two pylons above the wing. The body of the Jaguar is elongated with a large sloping tail. Air intakes for two rectangular jet engines. Wings in a high wing configuration. Two-wheeled undercarriage assembly. Technical data (SEPECAT Jaguar A version): length: 16.83 m, wingspan: 8.68 m, height: 4.89 m, maximum speed: 1700 km/h, rate of climb: 101.6 m/s, maximum range: 3,524 km, maximum ceiling 14,000 m.
