Assembled model 1:35 howitzer German 15cm s.FH 18 Field Howitzer Trumpeter 02304

The 15 cm schwere Feldhaubitze 18 or sFH 18 (German "heavy field howitzer, model 18"), nicknamed Immergrün ("Evergreen"), [3] was the main heavy 149 mm howitzer of the German division during World War II. serves alongside the smaller but more numerous 10.5 cm leFH 18 . Its mobility and firing range, as well as the effectiveness of the 44-kilogram projectile, made it the most important weapon of all German infantry divisions. [4] A total of 6,756 copies were produced. [1] It replaced the previous World War I design, the 15 cm sFH 13, which was deemed completely inadequate by the Krupp-Rheinmetall sFH 18 design team. [4] The sFH 18 was twice as heavy as its predecessor, had a forty percent increase in muzzle velocity, a maximum firing range of 4.5 kilometers, and a new carriage with a split plume that increased fire traffic twelvefold. [4] Secret development from 1926–1930 enabled German industry to produce a fail-safe design at the start of German rearmament in 1933. [4] It was the first artillery weapon equipped with rocket munitions for increased range. The sFH 18 was also used in the schwere Panzerhaubitze 18/1 self-propelled artillery mount (better known as the Hummel). The sFH 18 was one of three main 15 cm guns in Germany, the others being the 15 cm Kanone 18, a heavy corps-level gun, and the 15 cm sIG 33, a short-barreled infantry gun.
