The T-68 was the prototype of the American flamethrower tank of the Cold War. Two prototypes of this machine were built in 1953 and in the same year passed field tests, but did not live up to the hopes placed on them and did not enter mass production. The main disadvantage was considered to be the placement of the main armament in the frontal part of the tank, and not in the rotating turret. The machines were created by adapting M4 Sherman machine bodies with HVSS suspension to the Canadian E-33 flamethrower. The conversion consisted mainly in dismantling the turrets of the tank and replacing them with an armored sheet with visors and a machine gun. The flamethrower was located in the place of the radio operator's MG, in the front part of the car body. The crew of the car was reduced to 3 people. It is worth adding that the inspiration for the construction of the T-68 was probably the Canadian Sherman Badger, the design of which was developed in 1945-1949.
