The Honda Dax debuted in the summer of 1969 as a compact motorcycle designed for both city riding and leisure. Its design was based on a unique concept: a pressed-steel, box-section frame that housed the fuel tank and battery. The frame's distinctive, elongated shape resembled a dachshund—hence the name "Dax," derived from the German word for the breed.
